On January 19th 1874, Manchester High School for Girls opened for the first time. It was one of the first few academic girls’ schools in England and the first in the north.
Our Founders’ vision was to provide an academic education for girls that would equip them for any future which might be before them.
We can only guess what our Founders would make of the world of learning 150 years later, but we are sure that they would have been proud of the way the School has continued to evolve by embracing change and making the most of the opportunities it offers.
But what about the next 50 years? What will School be like when we celebrate our 200th anniversary in 2074? We asked the Prep for their ideas.
