On Tuesday 5th March 2024, our Archivists, Mrs Gwen Hobson and Mrs Pam Roberts, delivered the fourth in a series of ‘In Conversation with the Archivists’ sessions on Zoom, along with our Head Mistress, Mrs Helen Jeys.
To celebrate the 150th Birthday of our pioneering school, they explored together some of the characters and momentous events that have shaped the School’s history, for example:
- The Manchester High boarding house
- Early university women
- The evacuation to Cheadle Hulme in 1939
- Life in Broomfield and Warley during and after WW2
- ‘Back in Time at School Day’ - lessons from the past using archive material
- The conservation of treasures - the tapestry made by the second Head Mistress, Sara Burstall, and the Mitzi Cunliffe sculpture over the front door
- Unexpected archive enquiries
You can see the recording below.
