Frances Harrison was one of the first girls to be enrolled at MHSG in 1874 and her connection with the School lasted until her death in 1954, aged 94. She worked as a student teacher in the Preparatory School from January 1879 to January 1880 when she was appointed mistress to a form. She went on to become Head of the Preparatory School in 1904. She was a loyal member of the Old Girls' Association and served several times as President. After her retirement she worked for five years as a missionary in Rhodesia, but never forgot MHSG. For several years she sent 800 sprigs of ivy from the garden of her home in Sussex for the School to wear on Founders' Day. She is one of the legends of MHSG!
