Carolyn Davidson, Class of 1982

I left MHSG with a passion for foreign languages and after a degree in French and German at Bristol University, joined the Foreign Office, where I have been ever since. I have worked in many different countries around the world, including Japan, Germany, Thailand, Slovakia, Zambia and Guatemala and learnt several more languages along the way. My husband, a fellow diplomat, and I were the first people globally to job-share an ambassadorial role overseas (in Zambia and then Guatemala/Honduras). He has now retired and I am working as Consul General in Osaka, where one of the highlights so far has been overseeing growing links between Manchester and Osaka.
