We were thrilled to report in 2018 that an autograph book, created by pupils from Manchester High between 1916 and 1918, had been found in the bottom of a basket in a charity shop and given as a present to someone with a passionate interest in local history. She very kindly allowed us to scan the book so that we have a permanent record in our archive. This is a really charming early version of the modern year book where friends have written messages and poems and drawn pictures and cartoons. We love it! If anyone else has one, please let us know!

My mother, Mary Smith, attended MHSG around 1914 and left 1919 - She was born 1902.
I do have an autograph such as is described here. I would be happy to share it. I would also like very much to know when my mother attended and if there are any records concerning her time there.
In 1919 the reason for her leaving was that her father moved to the Isle of Man. Mary married there in 1930 to John Brown Bolton, later Sir John Bolton, who was Chairman of the Finance Board of the Island over a period of time in which the Island's economy changed from tourism gradually to financial services.
